Appliance servicing


I have spent the last four years employed predominantly as a gas service engineer, and during this time I have worked on a wide range of gas appliances, from the very old to the very new.  I am Gas Safe, Oftec and Hetas Registered to work on Boilers, Water Heaters, Cookers, Range Cookers and Fires running on both Natural (mains) gas and LPG, oil and solid fuel.  I also hold LAV and RPH qualifications to work on appliances in caravans and park homes.

 

Every appliance is different, and so each service must be tailored to the individual appliance in order to be effective.  However, there are some similarities, and so each and every appliance service I carry out will include within the price the following service actions:-


A printed service report, sent with your invoice, that includes information on the work completed, plus information on any parts that appear degraded and may require replacement in the near future.

Discussion with you, if you are home, about any issues discovered during servicing.  Normally this will be advice regarding degrading parts that will require replacement soon. 


However, on a very few occasions, for safety reasons, it may be necessary to replace parts before the appliance can continue to be used.  This is more often the case when an appliance has not been correctly serviced in the past.  Where parts require immediate replacement, the option will normally be given to replace on the same day, time and stock availability permitting.  Parts not requiring immediate replacement will be quoted for and scheduled to be fitted at a time that suits you, should you require the work to go ahead.

 

All servicing prices include travel to site, labour, and the use of small sundries where required.  They are based on the assumption that only one visit will be required; any issues discovered during servicing that require a subsequent visit will be charged extra at my standard labour rate.  Please note that your appliance must be in working order at the time of the visit in order for a service to be completed.  Appliances not in working order will be treated as breakdowns and charged accordingly.
