Gas boiler servicing
I offer a full boiler service, which is tailored to each individual boiler. This usually follows the manufacturer’s instructions where available, although where experience has shown that boiler manufacturer’s instructions are insufficient for thorough and complete maintenance, additional work will be carried out, normally within the cost of my standard service charge.
At the very least, casings are removed, components inspected visually (and, where possible, functionally) for signs of wear or leakage, minor leaks requiring standard replacement washers repaired, electrodes checked and adjusted as required, burners inspected and cleaned, and performance checked. If required, radiators can be bled and your controls tested for correct operation.
The vast majority of boiler services are covered under my standard charge of £80.00+vat. There are three notable exceptions to this, as follows:
1) Where a manufacturer specifies a replacement burner gasket upon removing the burner, this gasket will be replaced at additional cost. I charge extra for this as there is wide price range for a replacement burner gasket (typically £10-£25) and not all boilers require this.
2) If a boiler is not working correctly, it will almost certainly require more than just a service. Please contact me to discuss your problem, and to book in for diagnosis and repair.

Oil boiler servicing
I carry out full strip & clean servicing and maintenance on all types of domestic oil boiler, including removal and cleaning of baffles, replacement of nozzle, electrode cleaning and adjustment, and pressure & combustion checks.
My standard charge is £95.00+vat which covers up to an hour of work and a replacement nozzle. Oil supply hoses are replaced based on their condition and, if applicable, expiry date, and so are chargeable as extras.
Condition of the boiler will be advised upon and suggestions for future maintenance discussed as appropriate.

Unvented cylinder servicing
Many people do not realise that an unvented cylinder (sometimes generically referred to as a Megaflo or Megaflow) requires annual servicing to both ensure its continued safety, and also to maintain the 25 year warranty that is issued with many such appliances. Such servicing must be carried out by a properly trained and G3-Registered Engineer. I hold such training and qualifications.
Servicing will follow the manufacturer’s instructions, but as a guide it usually involves testing the safety valves to ensure correct operation and that the discharge pipework is functioning as required, recharging the expansion volume, and ensuring that the safety controls are properly functioning.
Unvented cylinder servicing is £30.00+vat when carried out at the same time as a boiler service, or £65.00+vat as a standalone item.
Any spares required, such as replacement valves or expansion vessels, are classed as repairs and are chargeable extras.
